Upon initiative of UNHCR Office in Belarus, the Belarusian Post Office (RUP “Belpochta”) accepted the proposal to place one of the proposed designs on the envelopes available for general public at post offices in the country. The design was taken from the winning poster of the contest for the best creative work “Refugees: Belarus – the Second Home”, conducted by UNHCR in 2006. Professional designers, photographers and students of Belarusian high and professional educational art institutions took part in the contest.
The initiative aims at wide public sensitization on the problem of refugees and forming tolerant attitude to refugees and asylum seekers.
20 000 envelopes were published free of charge and distributed among regional and district centers of Belarus by April 10, 2008.
