In advance of the World Refugee Day (20 June) the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Center for Children and Adolescents «Evrika» have organized a contest of children's works of arts devoted to the World Refugee Day "World without strangers". The organizing committee has received over 1400 drawings, posters, compositions and verses from all the regions of the Republic of Belarus. Pupils show their views of the refugee problem in their works. Thanks to the participation in the contest pupils leant about problems which refugees confront with, that teaches them to be tolerate, tolerant, merciful. Inquire after tragic fates of refugees, they stars to estimate peaceful situation in their homeland.

That is the words of Dubinina Daria, Belarusian pupil from Gomel, "Refugees find understanding in Belarus. They are people of other nationality, other religion, but if they are in need of our protection, are ready to work to the good of our Mother country, respect our traditions and customs, laws, they can be considered our friends. Let's help them, respect them and be patient with their requests."

100 of the best works will be exhibited in the National Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Belarus during June 11—21.

Grand opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place on June 11, 2009 at 11.00 in the National Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Belarus (K. Marks str., 12). Pupils whose works are the best, Sholeh Safavi, the Head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office in the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, heads of the national communities, creative teams, the Center for Children and Adolescents «Evrika» will present at the grand opening ceremony.

Laureates of the contest will be invited in Minsk where they will participate in the gala-concert. There will be the rewarding ceremony. Gala-concert will take place on June 18, 2009 at 11.00 (Y. Kupala str., 21).
