Contest of children's works of arts was announced.

UNHCR Office in Belarus announces a contest of children’s works of arts devoted to World Refugee Day.

For a number of years, the UNHCR Office in Belarus, Ministry of Education of Belarusand the Centre for Youth and Adolescents “Evrika” of the Frunzensky District of Minsk City have organized a contest of children’s works of arts devoted to World Refugee Day. The contest has become popular in the country, and the organizing committee has received over 1000 works every year. The best among the works have been exhibited in the National Museumon History and Culture. The winners of the contest were invited to Minskwhere they took part in activities devoted to World Refugee Day. The contest process was intensively publicised by the mass media.

The contest aims at:

  • increased awareness of the Belarusian society on refugee issues;
  • building and strengthening of tolerance and respect to refugees among schoolchildren, their parents and teachers; 
  • finding and encouraging of young talents.

This year’s nominations are:

  • contest of children’s drawings and paintings “Supporting the flame of hope”;
  • contest of literature works “Supporting the flame of hope”.

The contest of literature work includes two lines:

  • a composition: your thoughts or story, 3 pages maximum;
  • poetry.

The contest winners will be determined by the competent jury members.

The contest winners will be awarded prizes, gifts, diplomas and certificates and invited to the city of Minskto take part in the activities devoted to World Refugee Day.
