The Awarding ceremony took place on June 16, 2014 at the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University (Leningradskaya str., 20, aud. 516).
The ceremony was opened by Mr. Victor Shadurski, Head of the INA “Evolutio” Observation Board, Aliaksandr Velikarodnau, Programme Associate of the UNHCR Representation in the Republic of Belarus, and Sviatlana Vinakurava, first vice rector of Belarusian State Academy of Arts. In their greeting speeches they expressed gratitude to all the students for their active participation in the contest and for their works. Victor Shadurdski noticed that the posters presented at the exhibition are the evidence of talented youth’s interest in refugee issues. It is necessary to pass the pain and suffers which people face without their families and homes through yourself in order to portray your vision of refugee issues. And that’s why it is important to conduct such kind of contests to raise awareness of different groups of society on refugee problems. In her turn, Sviatlana Vinokurova paid attention to clean and prosperous Belarus, which was significantly destroyed during the Great Patriotic War and now, renewed and developing, it is a home for both Belarusians and representatives of other nationalities who were forced to flee from native lands. The title of the Contest proves this thought: «Refugees: Belarus is Our Common Home».
Works of the winners are exhibited on the 5th floor of the Faculty of International Relations of BSU. Everyone can visit the exhibitions and see the winners’ works.
