On June 19, 2014 Gala-concert devoted to World Refugee Day took place at the Gymnasium №20 (Minsk, Odintsova street, 89). Organizers of the event were the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office in Belarus and the Centre for Supplementary Instruction «Evrika». During the concert the awarding ceremony of the winners of the contest of children’s art works «Let’s be together» was held, the contest was organized by the UNHCR Office in Belarus together with the Centre for Supplementary Instruction «Evrika».
Special guests of the Gala-concert were Mr. Jean Yves Bouchardy, UNHCR Representative in the Republic of Belarus, heads of refugee communities, winners of the competition, folk groups of the Centre «Evrika».
Traditionally the ceremony was opened by UNHCR Representative in the Republic of Belarus Jean Yves Bouchardy. In his opening speech he greeted all attendants, thanked children for their participation in the competition and marked the high quality of presented art works. All the guests of the event said kind words to the participants of the contest of children’s art works, performers and guests, who found the time to visit the concert and thus pay tribute to those who by virtue of circumstances had to leave their home. The concert was held in one breath, all the guests were captured by the warm atmosphere of a holiday and wanted to keep this sense of calm and joy.
