The results of the contest of the works of students, candidates for a master's degree, post-graduate students “Solution of the Problems of Refugees and Stateless Persons: Belarusian and International Experience”, which was held in September—November 2011 by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”, have been summed up.
Students, candidates for a master's degree and post-graduates of Belarusian universities, involved in researches in the specified areas were invited to participate in the contest.
50 works of the students and post-graduates from 18 universities of Belarus were submitted for jury’s consideration. Having studied the works, the commission has taken the following decision.
To announce the following participants the winners with providing them a reward in an amount of 600 000 (six hundred thousand) Belarusian rubles and memorable diplomas:
- Timur Dudkin, candidate for a master's degree of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus, work “The Belarusian state policy for the protection of refugees in the context of modernization of national security”;
- Yulia Klimova, student of the Faculty of Law of BIP — Institute of Law Studies (in Grodno), work “Comparatively juridical analysis of the refugee status”;
- Ekaterina Yadchenko, post-graduate student of the Department of English and Speech Communication of Belarusian State University, work “Discursive construct of racism formed among the Belarusian youth”;
To announce the following participants the winners with providing them a reward in an amount of 400 000 (four hundred thousand) Belarusian rubles and memorable diplomas:
- Yulia Boyko, student of the Faculty of Law of Belarusian State Economic University, work “International legal mechanism of protection of the rights of refugees. Extradition issues”;
- Andrey Zubarev, post-graduate student of the Department of Belarusian Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Republican Institute of High School, work “British policy related to immigration from East Africa between 1960s and 1970s”;
- Yuri Mokhorev, student of the Faculty of Law of Gomel State University named F. Skorina, work “Features of the legal status of stateless persons according to the law of the Republic of Belarus”;
To announce the following participants the winners with providing them a reward in an amount of 200 000 (two hundred thousand) Belarusian rubles and memorable diplomas:
- Yulia Boshukova, student of the Faculty of Law of Vitebsk State University, work “Legal regulation of the status of refugee children at the international and national levels”;
- Svetlana Kropacheva, student of the Faculty of Economics and Law of Mogilev State University named A. A. Kuleshov, work “Protecting the rights of displaced persons within the country according to international and national laws”;
- Aleksandr Chubov, cadet of Institute of Border Service of the Republic of Belarus, work “The model of legal support of migration and providing with asylum”.
The Awarding ceremony will take place on December 27, 2011 at 15:00 at the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University (Akademicheskaya str., 25, room 303). The UNHCR Representative in the Republic of Belarus Sholeh Safavi will participate in the event.
