The results of the contest of the works of students, candidates for a master's degree, post-graduate students “Current State of the Problems of Refugees and Stateless Persons: Solutions, Achievements, Prospects”, which was held in September—November 2012 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”, have been summed up.

Students, candidates for a master's degree and post-graduates of Belarusian universities, involved in researches in the specified areas were invited to participate in the contest.

42 works of the students, candidates for a master's degree and post-graduates from 14 universities of Belarus were submitted for jury’s consideration. Having studied the works, the commission has taken the following decision.

To announce the following participants the winners with providing them a reward in an amount of 900 000 (nine hundred thousand) Belarusian rubles and memorable diplomas:

  • Yulia Boyko, candidate for a master's degree of the Faculty of Law of the Belarusian State Economic University, work “International Legal Framework for Protection of Refugees’ Rights. Modern Approach”;
  • Daria Kryuchkova, student of the Faculty of Law of the Vitebsk State University named P. Masherov, work “The Main Trends of the Citizenship Legislation Changes in Foreign Countries at the Current Stage”;
  • Ekaterina Matsakovskaya, student of the Faculty of Law of the Vitebsk State University named P. Masherov, work “The Concept and Principles of Citizenship in the Republic of Belarus and Foreign Countries”.

To announce the following participants the winners with providing them a reward in an amount of 600 000 (six hundred thousand) Belarusian rubles and memorable diplomas:

  • Pavel Vatskel, cadet of the Institute of Border Service of the Republic of Belarus, work “Multiculturalism in the Republic of Belarus: Possibilities to Apply and Development Prospects”;
  • Yuliana Ivashkevich, student of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University, work “Religious Extremism as a Threat to Tolerance and Multiculturalism Insurance in Society”;
  • Albert Tkach, student of the Faculty of History of the Brest State University named A. Pushkin, work “Multiculturalism Policy and Refugees”.

To announce the following participants the winners with providing them a reward in an amount of 300 000 (three hundred thousand) Belarusian rubles and memorable diplomas:

  • Margarita Guk, student of the Faculty of Management of the Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, work “Problems of the Refugee Status Granting in the European Union”;
  • Dmitry Kovalyonok, postgraduate of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University, work “Features of Refugees’ and Forcibly Displaced Persons’ Personal Property Import: Customs Aspect”;
  • Anastasia Starovoytova, student of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University, work “UNHCR’s activities as an equal actor of International Relations in the Resolution of Current Humanitarian Crises”.

The Awarding ceremony took place on December 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University (Leningradskaya str., 20, aud. 516).
