Since the very morning, participants of the II Summer School on Refugee Law actively involved in the work! The first task for students was to develop creative mini-performances based on the knowledge gained during the Summer School, and it was awesome!
The active part was followed by the lecture "Refugee status determination procedure" from Zoya Golovneva, Protection Associate of the UNHCR Office in Belarus.
A presentation from Timofey Solodkov, Associate Protection Officer from the UNHCR Belarus, which terminated the series of lectures "Refugee Law" was a logical continuation of Zoya's topic.😁
Later on we were joined by Natalia Sokolovskaya, Deputy Head of the Refugees and Asylum Office, Department of Citizenship and Migration of the MIA of the Republic of Belarus, who presented crucial moments of the national asylum system of Belarus.
During the second half of the day after learning about Belarusian asylum system, our participants together with the UNHCR Office studied the characteristics of different regional systems. Alexander Yatstenko, National RSD Associate, explained the basis of the European system while Zoya Golovneva presented North and South American mechanisms.
The day ended with the lecture from Dmitry Shylin, UNICEF Belarus Child Protection Specialist, who spoke about the system of international legal protection of children's rights.
It's only getting more interesting!
