The conference “Minsk Agreements one year later: Achievements, Challenges and Lessons” took place in Minsk on February, 11 with participation of the UNHCR Representative in the Republic of Belarus. A high level meeting was dedicated to the anniversary of conclusion of Minsk treaties which laid the foundation for cease-fire in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts in Ukraine. Experts from four countries of the Norman Format – Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany – took part in the event. At the opening of the conference Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, and Martin Sajdik, the Special Representative of the OSCE, Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, delivered speeches.
11 February: International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This year marked for the first time. General Assembly adopted such decision in 2015.

And we successfully started our year from an information hour for pupils on refugee issues. On January 11, 2016 an open lesson for pupils of the 5th form took place at Minsk Gymnasium #42 by Nobel Prize Winner Z. Alferov. Increasing the cultural awareness of refugee problems was stated as the main goal of the lesson. In general, the information hour was aimed at raising the acknowledgement on the problems which representatives of other nationalities face coming to Belarus. Prevention of latent discrimination is also amidst the core ideas of the lesson.
On December, 24, 2015, results of the contest «Providing Assistance to Refugees and Solving Their Problems: the International Reality and Belarusian Perspective», which was held by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes «Evolutio», were summed up and winners were awarded. 47 works participated in the contest representing 16 higher education institutions of Belarus.
The results of the contest of the works of students, candidates for a master’s degree, post-graduate students “Providing Assistance to Refugees and Solving Their Problems: the International Reality and Belarusian Perspective”, which was held in September—November 2015 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”, have been summed up. This year 47 works of students, master students and post-graduate students from 16 universities of the Republic of Belarus took part in the Contest.
To mark this year’s International Migrants Day on December 18, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is calling on the international community to come together and remember the refugees and migrants who have tragically lost their lives this year.
On December 17, 2015 another lecture on the basis of the Republican Institute of Professional Education took place. Liubou Kravets, INA “Evolutio” Public Information Assistant, delivered the lecture «UN in Contemporary World: Solution of Refugee Issues» for the listeners at the Faculty of Training and Retraining of Personnel under the Republican Institute of Professional Education. Specialists of the institutions of professional and vocational education listened to the presenter with keen interest and asked questions of concern.
